Abdulhakim Muhammad

Little Rock Police transfer Abdulhakim Muhammad to the Pulaski County Jail around 7:30 p.m. June 1, 2009.

Muhammad is accused in that morning's shooting outside a U.S. Army recruiting station on Rodney Parham Road in Little Rock. One U.S. soldier, Pvt. William Long of Conway, was killed. Another, Pvt. Quinton Ezeagwula of Jacksonville, was wounded in the shooting. Police say Muhammad drove up to the recruiting station and opened fire from his SUV with an SKS assault rifle.

LRDP Chief Stuart Thomas said Muhammad's motive was apparently ideological: that Muhammad -- a convert to Islam who was born Carlos Bledsoe -- disagrees with the ongoing American wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
