Caravans (1978) movie clip directed by James Fargo.
This big-budget adaptation of James Michener's best-selling novel stars Michael Sarrazin as Mark Miller, a low-level American diplomat given a dangerous assignment. Ellen Jasper (Jennifer O'Neill) is the daughter of a prominent U.S. politician who has married Nazrullah (Behrooz Vosoughi), an Iranian colonel. However, she's fallen in love with Zulfigar (Anthony Quinn), a Bedouin rebel leader, and has run off with him. Miller is instructed to find Ellen and bring her back to the United States, and while he's able to complete the first part of his assignment, Ellen simply refuses to leave Zulfigar's side.
Caravans was a co-production between American and Iranian firms, but it had the misfortune of being released just as relations between the two nations began to sour, which did nothing to help the film at the box office.

  • Great movie. I remember when Anthony Quinn and Jennifer O'neil came to Iran to film this movie just before the revolution. Behruz Vosughi the best Iranian actor who played O'neil's husband is now living near San Francisco.

    Good Ol' Days of Iran.

  • Behrouz Is The Best Actor:)

  • I remember this scene from the novel, they got it all wrong and that's why the film was so lousy. Ellen never meant to play with the hearts of four different men and she isn't bitter towards her husband who by the way is not the type you see in a uniform and is waaay younger! and Anthony Quinn as Zulfiqar? no no no! It just doesn't convince that a beautiful woman like Ellen would look at him twice.

  • Great music, lousy film.
