why not have haitian workers here? mom can't weigh her own baby and be empowered to take a lead here? at every level, every step of care, it seems essential to make this program non-dependent on outside assistance. not just homegrown peanuts, but homegrown baby weigh/simple chart determine doses of mamba and follow up. why not?

There are Haitian nurses at the clinic. That morning there were about 50 people waiting to be seen, so everyone available was seeing patients. The program was very young in Haiti and in a 'testing' phase as best practices were being developed with information still being translated into Creole. The mothers visit once every 2 weeks and are given the peanut paste. They are then fully responsible for administering within their family. They idea is for the program to become Haitian run over time.
