Mario's Tennis - Virtual Boy footage recorded directly from Virtual Boy

I took the footage almost year ago with Sony Handycam that had manual focus feature. Virtual Boy's "screen" needs about 65 mm focus distance. Of course blocking one eye screen with camera makes gaming almost impossible

  • Did you get a headache making this review?

  • @Koopsas Ha ha good question. No. But actually my first experience with Virtual Boy and Mario's Tennis involved chewing tobacco. Result: I lasted less than minute. That was awful. :D

Luckily every other experience after that have been just a win. I totally love Virtual Boy :)

  • How the hell did you film it? It looks a pretty cool game, the Virtual Boy is one of the few systems I've never played, how many games are avaliable for it?

  • @28steryan I took the footage almost year ago. That just sat on my HDD untouched. That was borrowed Sony Handicam that had manual focus feature. Virtual Boy's "screen" needs about 65 mm focus distance. Of course blocking one eye screen with camera makes gaming almost impossible :D

Virtual Boy has 14 US games and 21 JAP games if I remember correctly. I have 7 US games in my collection. I'm going to upload the other's gameplay also.

  • @krebalo 23 games thank you very much, not including homebrew

  • @akumie Thanks :)

  • I remember being at Wal-Mart the very day VB was released. As big as I was into anything gaming back in the 90s, I deeply hated virtual reality. I thought of it as nothing but a fad that would fizzle out in no time. As much as I am happy to say that I was right, it is neat to look back at that curiosity and see how people really thought it would be the wave of the future. In a way, it's back - but in a new, more practical way (Kinect, Wii, EyeToy). Thanks for the video. Brings back memories.

  • interesting video. The graphics never looked that amazing to me back then though. I stuck with my gameboy.
