Hi Everyone, I am changing things up a bit. I created a new YouTube Channel as an output for my music. All my How-to DIY vids will still be shown here on this musichistorynut account.
Click on the link below and subscribe if you want to hear more of my music.

Also in this video I demonstrate a preview of what my music videos look like. This one is an original score for a short film called "R.U.N." Directed by Ash Ahrens. He submitted it to one of the filmaka.com contests. Click below to watch the film.

Thanks for watching. Please comment and again, if you like my music, click on the first link and subscribe!

  • So are you still using your Zoom H4n? I've been wanting one for about a year now, I just haven't done it....

  • @danielofantioch Yes. While ML has helped with its customizable audio settings, I still love using my phantom-powered SuperLux microphones and as powerful as my cam is now with ML, it doesn't provide true Phantom Power. LOL My H4n is SERIOUSLY my favorite piece of gear I own. I love it more than my camera. It is SO versatile. (and with a bag of rice, it dries out after taking a plunge in a river while shooting on location).

  • @musichistorynut Awesome! I've got a question for you. Whats the process for getting a score to a movie; for you? I guess my question is, when someone says "hey Jerry, I want you to score my short film?" What are the next steps after that; do you read the script first? Do you break it down scene by scene? Those kinds of things etc, I'd like to see you make a video regarding that... Thanks,

  • @danielofantioch That is an EXCELLENT idea! I'll make a vid showing me scoring a short film. My director friend, Ash Ahrens is in the middle of shooting one right now and I am his go-to composer, so I know the opportunity to do a vid about my process will be there.

  • @danielofantioch But to quickly answer your questions: USUALLY, I'll get a brief synopsis, and then I just get the finished edit and the director and I sit down and do spotting. (determining where in the film music should be) At this time I try to get the ideas and thoughts the director has about the kind of mood, and what kind of emotion he wants to communicate. Sometimes he has some very distinct ideas about music, and other times, it's pretty much up to me totally.

  • @danielofantioch and then I make detailed notes and then start working on ideas. Sometimes he gives me ideas about characters ahead of time, so I can start mulling over the kind of music I'll write for them. It changes with each movie.
