Rare, historic footage of the first ever NHRA national event in 1955, taken before the event was rained out. The footage includes cars campaigned by Art Chrisman, Art Arfons, Edelbrock, Offenhauser, and other legends of racing.
I don't think the historic significance of your vids can be overstated. For instance, at 0.53 , young people new to the excitement of the sport of drag racing (I got infected with it 53 years ago) can get a glimpse of an example of what is the Great Grand Daddy of today's nitro burnin' 300+ MPH Top Fuel Dragsters.--- In my 80's I'll still be lovin' it!

Great footage!!!
The purple roadster @ 2.26 runs in the B/Street Rod class- NHRA still runs that class in 2010!
The dragsters in this film are beautifully constructed and the sport appears very professionally run, even in this very early era.
Thanks for sharing this footage!
