  • I suggest you check your facts re: the use of the bullhook. Although the elephants Kallie and Bette are NOT currently being managed with bullhooks, the Pittsburgh Zoo does use bullhooks, and the Pittsburgh Zoo is in charge of the elephants at this breeding - holding facility. At the time the elephants moved in, the keepers did attempt to manage them with bullhooks. For undisclosed reasons, they stopped trying. The Friends of Philly Zoo Elephants have updated the information on its website.

  • The Friends of the Philly Zoo Elephants group said Kallie and Bette are still controlled by the bullhook, yet in this video the man says that the keepers don't go inside the same enclosure with the elephants.

  • @animalsdeserveaplace Where does the Friends of Philly Zoo Elephants say this? Please document your statements.

  • this is fucked up right?

every single thing he says, every clip, every thing he says , in my eyes...points to mis treatment. this IS fucked up right? I am writing an articel for a local paper on cruelty on animals please let me know if anyone has any useful input. If relevant I could site as a source in my writing, thanks.

  • I am not a fan of keeping elephants in zoos, but the Friends of the Philly Zoo Elephants group was wrong when they said the elephants are under the threat of a bullhook. The man here says that the keepers don't go into the enclosures with the elephants. More research should be done before condemning a facility for a certain reason.

  • They look like they've lost some weight. Poor things.

  • sad!
