They are made from either re-used, recycled, vegan or organic material. Notice that the first brand, Passchal, uses tractor tire inner tubes for their line of bags. I made sure to pick only those that can compete with high fashion leather bags to show that you don't need to choose those other brands to own a fabulous product.

pleather made from polyurethane uses fossil fuels, which is bad for the environment. For leather, though, you have to take into account the trees cleared for pastures, the feeding, antibiotics, and the animals themselves, which give off methane.
Ultimately, it'll depend on how each material was produced to determine which one is better. If the cows were raised in a 'green' way, such as using no chemicals, then leather might actually be a little better than pleather.
