Performing ligation of uterine artery before laparoscopic myomectomy has several advantages. Firstly it reduces bleeding during the surgery. Secondly, it will shrink small fibroids that were missed during the surgery and lastly it may prevent recurrance of new fibroids.

  • No it does not!! I run a IVF centre, and I obviously do not want my patients to not conceive after my surgery. Having performed this for many yrs, I do not have a patient who could not conceive because of the surgery. There are enough publications out there that collateral perfusion of the uterus occurs within hours of ligating the uterine arteries.
