Don Schwarz and Penny Clarke's 2009 depression urban garden. This garden is the first year test on producing enough garden vegetables to sustain our basic majority needs for a year. You need to start some where. We currently have about 500 sq ft of growing space and probably can add about another 150 sq ft.

We are using compost fretilizer and garden hose spray scotts mircle grow. 8 bottles for the season or about 20 dollars worth.

  • Urban depression is a response to the dollar collapse and the need for individuals to relay more on themselves for sustainability.

curious why title video ...' depression '?. ... I believed perhaps the video was about plants to help with that 'ailment'

  • You guys are true Americans. You'll be neighborhood heroes with all the know-how soon. I think if everyone had such a garden or teamed together to individually plant a single crop in their yard (and trade it) that America could make it through what is coming. THANK YOU FOR SHARING!

  • @donnys333 okies, thanks , wasn't sure , cheers :)

if I get half the veggies up you have I'll be happy ..

  • Awesome job! I envy you all your growing space. I own a condo so I'm stuck with growing a garden on my deck. Every bit helps though.

One advantage of this place is that I have only about 18 thousand left to pay on it.

  • Wow now that's a beautiful garden! Can't wait 'till my backyard is covered like that ;)

  • I think what you guys are doing is great. Lawns are one of the most overated things on the planet. everyone can, and should, do this

  • WHATIS COMMING!!! NO DOUBT!!

  • wonderful...excellent use of space.

quite the money-saver too...especially for the amount of labor required (only in the beginning) cuz maintenance isnt too bad
