It's our review of Mint 12, does this up and coming distribution have a bit of a desktop identity crisis? Or are they angry Ubuntu users salvation!

Plus: Get the latest on the Carrier IQ story, and how you can find it, and what you can do. Plus a new call to arms, Linux users rocking the Humble Bundle, and Debian's new use for bittorrent!

And so much more!

  • What kind of microphone is Mr. Jude using?

  • @BLADESKATER00 He uses a Rode Podcaster. Same Mic Heather uses for SciByte.

  • installed linux mint 12 booted it ⇒ desktop freeze. Installed XFCE at least that doesn't freeze permanently.

  • @az7450 uhh, you know Mac is heavily based on Linux, right?

  • The Mac operating system is based on Linux and so is Google's Android.

  • @az7450 there isn't a design for Linux. Linux is a kernel. OS makers make distributions, so the distribution may copy OS X, but not every Linux OS does.

  • Welp, decided id get my feet wet with Linux again, so i installed Ubuntu like many other noobs.

Its not what i remember, uninstalling this crap as soon as Linux Mint is done downloading

  • @shanejoel2

    So constructive criticism isn't allowed?

  • in fedora press alt and u gan shut-down :P

  • Even though I am on Verizon I am still glad I run MIUI/CM7 (I jump back and forth)

  • This CarrierIQ is perfectly legal under national security right, and under homeland security, and FEMA, they need to be able to take over your devices and know where you are in the case of emergency is what they say, and in case you're a terrorist they have a legal right to presume you guilty and therefore spy on you.
