The global food crisis is particularly effecting the world's poorest people.

And in the United States, it is not just the poor who are hurting.

Growing numbers of working-class Americans are turning to public help, and private charities to feed their families.

Nick Spicer reports.

  • The American gov't could care less about the poor & working poor. Just ask yourself, any politicians what they've done 4 them? Despite what they may say, passed down arrogance finds them ACTIING like this: "Just pay the gov't,shut up, & go away. You see, most politicians are from "gated" communities, then university communities, & finally have families in gated communities of their own. They are incredibly isolated from ever learning, understanding, & thus, cannot help us. Yet they rule over us.

  • Who cares welfare is always cheaper than a 700 billion dollar bailout. How bout giving 700 billion dollars to the food bank instead of the bankers?

  • wahahahaha..... unsa mana uy

  • waw unsa mana uy wahahaha...

  • american lawmakers have killed their own economy by killing jobs through outsourcing.. now no-one can find jobs and money is bleeding from the country

  • @bulluni your a dumb ass, inflation and debt began in 1913 when congress lost the power to print money to the Reserve

congress and presidents ask permission for the Reserve to print more money. Obama gave 700 Billion in bailouts to RICH WHITE PEOPLE that same white friends of bush. Obama stole 500 billion in the budget to create nation health care forcing the Reserve to print more money debasing dollar value

you understanding all this despite your inability to get a high school diploma?

  • @warhater I think this is a reality check when we see working class poor...I live in Canada and I live amongst the odd single mother but I don't see this kind of poverty where I live. Most of us would need our kids to take out student loans for school but we don't do bad off our wages which are more proportionate and we have never had to pay for health care...most have dental coverage as well as medical or eye glass coverage with their work...cost of living gone way up but we plant gardens, now.

  • I respect this woman working and doing her best to help children who were other wise cast outs and I think it is wrong that the world has made it better for the rich while the poor suffer...I actually cried when I watched this...I live in Canada and we have been hit by the recession as well but not like this...Further more I can't think of anyone including the rich who would have done what she did acsept for 1 family...but in Canada we gave them money through the newspaper when it was published

  • @Moralvorstellung Read a book you ignorant asshat - there's a direct correlation between poverty and obesity in America. Simple reason: fatty foods are cheapest and most accessible to the poor.

  • @TIKIMAN198 Bet you anything are a cunt. You sister is working, feeding foster kids and struggling to get by on charity and you call her a bitch. I pity you.

  • @TheGreasepit Wow. Just wow. You literally have no compassion - you may as well be a zombie.
