Refuge Denied is the debut album by the band Sanctuary, who disbanded in 1991 (partially reforming as Nevermore).
This was the only album to feature extremely high pitched, layered vocals from vocalist Warrel Dane. It has been speculated that Dane injured himself in the making of Refuge Denied, due to the change in vocal style in his subsequent work.
It was produced by Megadeth vocalist and guitarist, Dave Mustaine.
"White Rabbit" is a cover version of a Jefferson Airplane song and Dave Mustaine performed the guitar solo on it.

Hadn't even heard of these guys when I saw them open for Megadeth in Portland, OR. 20 minutes before they started, some tiny girl behind me reached around and shoved a couple hits of acid into my mouth (my first). I was good through the Sanctuary set, but by the time Dave launched into "Peace sells.." I was toast (in a great way). Fantastic show!
