The University of Tulsa hosted the Tulsa Area United Way 2009 Day of Caring Kickoff Breakfast at the Donald W. Reynolds Center Sept. 11. Volunteer teams from area organizations attended and shared a pancake breakfast before deploying to Day of Caring service projects throughout the community.
TU volunteers showed their "'Cane Do! spirit" at the Crosstown Learning Center in the historic Kendall-Whittier neighborhood bordering the TU campus. From weeding to reading, members of our campus family pitched in to help center staff and the preschool children that Crosstown serves.
All in all a very rewarding day!

The young lady who mentions, "I work for a museum" is referring to Tulsa's Gilcrease Museum, home of the world's largest, most comprehensive collection of art and artifacts of the American West. Gilcrease Museum is operated by The University of Tulsa under a contract with the City of Tulsa. Visit online: www.gilcrease.org, then come out to see for yourself!
Although the clip didn't make it into this video, representatives of the Tulsa Oilers turned out for the Day of Caring Kickoff. General Manager Taylor Hall let us know that the franchise has pledged 25% of its Oct. 24 home opener (vs. Wichita) proceeds to the Tulsa Area United Way.
