I'm an atheist but I find your entire argument uncomfortable and it doesn't stand up to reason. Are you saying that people in less developed countries should stop believing in a god and some how they will be blessed with enormous wealth?

The fact that you live in a rich country has nothing to do with you - it's just chance. So stop gloating it's obscene.

You say you are glad you were born in a time before all the resources have been depleted. Why? So that you can help finish it? Shame.

The point was supposed to be that it's ironic that the countries that worship god(s) are the ones he blesses least.

@ubergossen Though broadly true, I just found the line of argument not in the best taste. We are better than that.

Poor people in poverty stricken nations turn to a 'god', because they have nowhere else to turn. They hope the man in the sky will turn their fortunes. They are not poor because they believe this.

We, who are better off and more educated, turn away from the idea of a supernatural being because their is no evidence for it. America is over 60% theist - this warrants our ridicule.

@1000roars My intent wasn't to ridicule poor people. I very much doubt that many of my viewers are living in third world countries. I was more aiming to ridicule the rich theists who DO think that their god has praised them with good fortune. By their line of reasoning, their god condemns his worshippers to poverty, more often than not.

Its interesting, but not to be taken too seriously.

I am an athiest, but respect the beliefs of others, the only thing I dislike, is the hatred that christians seem to have for athiests, and for people that dont live by their "rules"

For instance, you could have used your methodology to show that Socialism was the cause of those nations being successful and enjoying a high standard of living. Because all of the nations towards the top of the HDI are also the most Socialistic nations in the world out-side of China, Vietnam, North Korea and Cuba. Finnland, Sweden, France, Canada and Australia all have populations and governments who are left of centre and to variaing degrees Socialist...

Don't mean to be a killjoy but the scandanavian/nordic nations include their traditional pagan/norse mythology as being atheistic which doesn't equate to them being non-religious and many would see that their success was down to Odin (a God) favouring them. Also, many budhists of the Chinese Tradition worship thier ancestors whom collectively acheive something akin to Godlike status. This video only shows just how little you know about the peoples of the world.

What if God abandoned the most atheistic countries and left the people to make their own way while he controlled the most religious ones...and the atheistic countries ran themselves better than God could? :O
