Modified bootscreen on Windows NT4.

UPDATE:
THIS OLD PC IS STILL WORKING FINE!

I have received email from the creator of this video (and owner of this laptop) that he joined Uptimes Project in 2009.
You can see laptop's current uptime here:
http://www.uptimes-project.org/hosts/view/2402

------------------------------------------------------

Copied from the Uptimes Project description:

"Old laptop (1997 Pentium 166 MHz / 96MB RAM, 1.6GB hdd haha!) in my bedroom, used as alarm clock, music player, webradio and webcast player, ebook reader, mail, MSN Messenger chat and talk (sadly Skype no longer supports their older clients...) and all other usual daily light duties. This laptop's previous longest uptime: 507 days (crashed due to K-Meleon browser error)."

----------------------------------------------------

SO - it appears DaiWood (the owner) is using this ancient laptop basically as Alarm Radio Clock, hahaha!

Anyways I'm speechless it is still being actually used!
8-)

  • It is SP6a because it has IE6

  • @SuperMario32game it is SP6a because it has Service Pack 6a. The original SP6 (without letter "a") was quickly replaced by Msoft because of some bug, and actually all "SP6" are "SP6a".

Installation of Internet Explorer 6 (or 4 or 5 or 5.5) is always optional on NT4, meaning: it is installed separately. None of them is bundled with any Service Pack for NT4.

  • that's easy. you just changed winnt.bmp/winnt256.bmp in C:\WINNT =)

  • @93axele you are close - but that's just the image. Adding the sound to be played together with the boot image was actually much more difficult than most ppl think (for details you'd have to ask DaiWood, the geek responsible for this mod).
