Here is the basic cold cast bronze process for creating realistic looking brozes for props and artwork. We used Sculpt Nouveau's wax products to finish out our piece.

  • Could the Nouveau wax be used on hydrocal as well?

  • @mrslifecast Yes. We sometimes use the Bronze B metal coating over Hydrocal and then use SN's finishing waxes over that.

  • wouldnt it even better to back up the bronze-layer with expanding foam instead of resin?

  • @fauxgt Depends on the application. Foam makes a piece light weight and some clients don't want that, they wan a heavy, bronze-like feel.

  • Can you gold plate cold cast items?

  • @Dreoilin I do not know. Never tried that.

  • That is just awesome!

  • @fauxgt Hi I have used house wall plaster to fill in instead of resin

  • @arieperinobng This is cool. I feel honored to have store-bought Russian brides available on my comment thread!

  • @Dreoilin i dont know what you mean gold plate, but if you mean look like gold, sure, there are minerals available to mix that sorta looks like gold...real gold, or the shiny gold from cartoons.

  • @arieperinobng OK, I had to leave this comment up just as monument to the ridiculous nature of Spam.
