  • Hello from Greenaces Stud.. At last........ after 4 years , a sensible question from an inqisitive and sensible individual... Thanks...So here is the blunt reply.............Greenaces Stud 'foal down' approx 30 foals per annum.......... In the majority ( 25 out of 30 ) we watch the Mare give birth naturally on our CCTV cameras (whether in a stable if long overdue ) or more naturally in the field ..After 2 hours and if it looks like the Mare is in distress then we must intervene..SEE NEXT POST

  • @terryuk2001 So....... as you can see The Mare was pushing for nearly 40 minutes and was totally exhausted..... and yes If in the wild , the mare and foal would certainly have died. ( she was a young maiden mare ).A decision had to be made ...... and the decision was totally vindicated as you can see ! We do apologies if it appeared to be 'rough' BUT we needed to act swiftly on this occassion..... Once again..... thanks for your thoughtful question.......

  • That was beautiful and the music really made it meaningful. Great job!!!!

  • Normally out of sight is correct but in this case we thought the mare had a problem..as the mare is valuable , on this occassion we did therefore get involved.... so in a sense everyone is right. Best wishes The Greenacres Stud team

  • I notice in these horse birthing videos, someone almost always pulls the newborn out of the mom (and with a lot of force, at that). Why is that? I mean, if they were in the wild, there'd be nothing to pull the baby out. I'm just wondering what the harm would be if the mom's muscles were allowed to do all the work?

  • My bday is 4th May xD

  • So beautiful... thanks for sharing.

  • great video! so awesome to see a creature with long legs stand up just 45 minutes after birth

  • ADORABLE FOAL!

  • Beautiful foal and mare ! : May God bless you all !
