Targinnie was a small community of mango and paw paw farmers located 15 minutes from Gladstone, QLD. When locals were approached by a foreign company wishing to develop the nearby oil shale deposit, they were promised jobs, an economic boom and a mine that you would not be able to "hear, smell or see". This is the second half of an interview with ex Targinnie resident, Peter Harland.

  • Three and a half years on, and in 2012 it will start again.

    They have demolished the old plant & built a new one.

    Coupled with the destruction of the harbour, Curtis Island and the surrounds

    from the Gas projects, our town is not such a nice place anymore...
