If you speak in tongues through the Holy Ghost you do well. But to my knowledge, there is no poser in tongues. The power of God is through Faith. You will have what you desire through prayer, supplication, faith, thanksgiving and patience, not tongues. Never the less tongues are a wonderful for the individual to personally communicate with God.

As 4 Mr. Blazer- I can't help thinking ur touchy about this subject cuz u haven't got the gift urself yet. Neither have I. But isn't that why we are both here reading & learning about it? I don't no bout u but in my case I think I've been unwilling2 totally give up control of my life 2 God, which is apparantly required. I'm trying.

@indianios how is the gift of tongues and initial speaking...different? Where is this in scripture bc Acts 2:1-4 does not say that ...and other books in the bible explain you do not have to speak in tongues to be saved. (sry if I sound...rudem dnt mean 2)
The bible says.....And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues. Not and they were filled with the Holy Ghost which is evident by speaking in tongues or which is speaking in tongues.

@noquehago Believe in your heart. If you have HONESTLY believed in your heart and confessed with your mouth that Jesus died for your sins and rose again then...you are saved. Faith is what makes us righteous. We are saved by Faith. This is how you know and if you still feel unsure, ask God to re-assure you of this. Ask for a Manifestation.

@qwatkins1 yes, to dwell in you...but it does not say you need to speak in tongues. NO scripture says that. Most say(specifically Acts) sayd GIFT of Holy Spirit and there are MANY gifts wen the Holy Spirit is manifested in you. God is looking at our hearts not your language bc even an unsaved person can speak fake tongues but only God's true children can have a changed and pure heart. (This topic is sooo controversial.)

Acts 19:6-- Please read and READ again for all those who believe that you dont have to speak in tounges, when you receive the HOLY GHOST.. not saying that you are not saved.. but you need the Spirit of GOD to dwell IN YOU.. not just UPON you!!
Not speaking in tongues does not mean that you don't have the Holy Spirit. Speaking in tongues is a gift and God gives different gifts 1 Corinthians 12:1-11. I don't speak in tongues and I have the Holy Spirit. I'm anointed and i've been certified to work in the vineyard. His word edifies me and that's what Christianity is about, it's about how you walk and not about what language you can talk. Obedience is what God looks for and it does not take speaking in tongues to keep God's commandments

I'm kinda touchy on this because I thought the spirit distributes what it wants?
1 Corithians 12:11 "All these are the work of one and the same spirit, and he gives them to each man, just as he determines"
