@dhcompanyman SCA ARE IDIOTS

Please note that "ranpleasant" does not know what he is talking about....
There is so much knowledge in the SCA right now, most of the upper lever rapier fighters in the SCA cross over to WMA, HEMMA, we are translators, and we are practitioners.... And there are ALOT of us that are published translators. The SCA is simply another group to practice your skills on. No need to reply... you have already shown us that you and bias, and most probably *uneducated* thanks for your input though

Awww I want the blue guys gear. Love the clothes of the renaissance!

I knocked a guy out with a buckler once it was weeks before he would speak to me again. It is so much fun but can be very dangerous. Most of the guys I fenced with thought we where all nuts.

Fantastic! Finally proper weapons not socks-on-sticks. More of this and I'd join the SCA in a second.

This must be the first time I see SCA-fighting without any silver tape. Keep it up!

@flowblue81 Same thing. In the broadest terms, the word "fencing" refers to any kind of sword fighting. Plus, they're not using modern fencing weapons or playing by modern fencing rules.

very light swords

They're the same weight as real, period words. 2-3 lbs for the one handers and 3-5 lbs or so for the two handers.

Please, please note that SCA fighting is NOT historical swordsmenship!

Strictly speaking, there IS no such thing as historically accurate swordsanship, seeing as those who practice swordsmanship today don't kill each other. In modern practice, concessions must be made to safety, which is from where most of the differences between SCA fighting and real swordfighting come. Please note that these fighters are using steel swords and learn from historical sources.
