Today's review (if it uploads this time) is about the most direct sequel to the SNES cult classic Ogre Battle. Ogre Battle 64, which was sadly the first not named after a Queen song, contained the same basic gameplay but added many small tweaks here and there, which I will go over in this review. The greatest updates were to the games presentation, graphics, and storytelling. The N64 offered a huge improvement in graphics technology and memory, giving the developers the tools to tell a much more engaging story full of twists, turns, angels, demons, racism, fallen gods, and much more. Battles really popped as well with characters actually physically touching each other during melee attacks and unleashing cool 3D effects during magic attacks. Whether or not this is the superior game is up to debate....possibly in another video. Hell, if this one does well enough, I could do a series of Ogre Battle videos.

  • not to be a flamer, but a lot of your units suck ass

  • @baconenjoyer I beat the game with this army, so they must have been good enough. I'm sure I didn't use all of them.

  • i have 600 hours(give or take 100) of game time on this game XD my most played game EVER. you figure out how to use the hidden 255 of an item glitch?

  • @zyx1500 I don't know that one. I bet you got every single special character didn't you?

  • This game is epic

  • @Mobstersoverdrive Indeed. I'm a little jealous that PSP is getting a remake of Tactics Ogre.

  • This game got a good Story?

  • underrated game

finished years ago and got the bad ending

im definetly beating it again for the good ending

this game on multi would be awesome

  • I truly loved this game, I once rented it at a store close to my house, and fell in love with it. I had the owner of the place buy it for me and played it so much. Every time I see a video or remember it I dig my N64 from under my bed and play sometimes because of how great it was.

One thing I recall is that even though the game was pretty unique at building units, I always had similar groups with melees and rangeds and a healer, this always felt more effective against most groups I fought.

  • Whats sad is there are literally no video reviews of this game online beyond a plot synopisis and this.

  • The greatest thing? Owning the original game, having bought it when it first came out. Digital copy on computer, play with a gamepad. Woo, nostalgia time!

  • so you got all the charcater for lawful path???

  • @phoenixkane1986 not really need to, ogre battle 64 is still superior , but of course i dont deny that tactics ogre is a remarkable game

  • @fmthebaron tactics ogre let us cling together is better. Both are awesome though, heck EVERY Ogre Saga game is amazing.

  • Did anyone ever get to recruit the Knights Templars?

cause i never seem to get one

  • Was anyone able to recruit a Knights Tamplar in their army?
