This week's edition of Japan Journal brings you another piano practice session by Brother Malcolm MC. Today Mal tackles the Jazz classic "Ain't Misbehavin'" by Fat Waller. Mal's impromptu improvisational version includes the Totown Records' Nu Jazz Funk styling followed by a funky and free Ragtime version for your listening pleasure. Brother Mal unabashedly practices his piano live on videotape without reservation for all to see because there is no shame in his game. (Laugh out loud). The title of this video is appropriately dubbed "Just Behave Yourself!" Enjoy!

  • Yep. That's why I announce it first. LOL. No shame in my game, though. If I tune it, I would not be able to play at all, I'm so used to it. Ha ha ha . Thanks, Mully.

  • Brother Mal has skills!

  • @KLightfoot100

Thank you my friend. I'm working on it. Long way to go, but enjoying the journey. Far from skilled at this point, however. Stay tuned.

  • Time for that Cruise ship gig my brother...... ha ha ha YOu know your way around playing the chords, don`t cha! Now it`s time for the drum machine so WE can groove WITH you.... Having a little trouble keep the beat. YOU know where you are, but we wanna feel it too.... ha ha ha ha ha.... Keep slammin` my brother. The most important thing is that you look like you`re having a ball and truly happy! That@s rare in these days and times..... Peace IZ

Thanks so much, Maestro, for your candid and supportive critique. I value anything an artist of your caliber has to offer. Yes, I am enjoying running through those chords so much that I often drop time when I screw up a progression. I figured rather than stop and stammer it is best to keep rolling so that I can complete the exercise. I will take your advice and upgrade my practice session by using at least a metronome. Thanks again. I have a few questions about the 36251 progression
