2011 Auckland New Year Fireworks

Auckland saw one of the awesome fireworks display when this time fireworks were simultaneously launched from Skycity Tower and Auckland Harbour. Master pyrotechnician Martin van Tiel set up the Sky Tower display as well as one which operated from two barges in the Waitemata Harbour. Thanks to jet-setting German businessman with a chequered past of computer hacking and insider trading laid on a spectacular New Year's fireworks display for Aucklanders. Kim Schmitz, who calls himself Kim Dotcom, contracted master pyrotechnician Martin Van Tiel to set off 2000 large shells of fireworks from two barges in the Waitemata Harbour for 11 minutes from midnight. Dr Van Tiel co-ordinated this with another fireworks display he is running off the Sky Tower.
