In this animated promotional video, defense contractor BAE Systems shows off its vision for "Micro Autonomous Systems and Technology" -- tiny, swarming, bug-like robots. The Army just gave the company a $38
million contract to head up a consortium of researchers into the next-gen mini-drones.

  • Somewhere, many generations ago::

    "Okay fellows. What's on the agenda this year? New medical procedures? Nope. An expansion of civil rights? Nah. A new charity to help those in need? Ho-hum Ah, of course! How about some new ways to kill people? Eureka! ."

  • WHY THE FUCK are all inventions used for military US army shit? how about using technology for peaceful purposes? humanity does not evolve to kill each other. when will people learn that?

  • @DigiTan000 That's why the budget for the DoD is like a thousand times bigger than NASA's...

  • @hxly2 Do you really think the fittest in this world would be the one who is part of the nation than kills the most? It doesn't really sound like evolution...

  • Science advances really fast when it's about killing people. This should be enough to make anyone who defends the "invisible hand" of the market realize that we can't only think in terms of profit.

    La ciencia avanza realmente rápido cuando se trata de matar. Esto debería ser suficiente para hacer a cualquiera que defiende la "mano invisible" del mercado darse cuenta de que no podemos pensar solamente en términos de ganancia.

  • YEAH WE'RE THE MILITARY!!! WE'RE SO FUCKIN COOL!

  • @Choppr777 ...the answer is simple and has no redeeming qualities: Killing people is more "profitable" than doing good. Change that equation and we may have a chance to evolve humanity into something worthwhile.

  • @hxly2 Theyr all communist not socialist...

  • @dec20056 That's what socialists and marxists want people to believe. But look at what happened with Nazism in Germany, and Communism in the Soviet Union and North Korea.

  • @Choppr777 But evolution involves survival of the fittest, which implies competition and fighting.

  • @DigiTan000 Yes, I think so. Much new science and technology are motivated by the military. Thermodynamics came from cannon building. Aviation was marketed to the military long before civilians. Space exploration was motivated from the cold war (Sputnik). Many early computers were designed for cryptography. The Internet was developed by DARPA in part to research network survivability. Newtonian mechanics was motivated by projectile motion. On and on....

  • @Choppr777 you won't be saying that when another nation overtakes you militarily. This is why I laugh at these comments.
