Only reason why the cataphracts were raping your team mate, were because they were using their secondary attack which you can activate with holding alt and clicking on the enemy unit. The secondary attack uses a mace which can totally fuck up armour and are extremelly effective against the Julii Romans if they are heavily upgraded, even with no upgrades they can still kill a whole army of Romans.
