Not the best quality, and the wind was also contributing her voice. Maybe I'll redo it at a later date (or maybe not...) Written by Texas-born Hugh Moffat, this song has been covered by many artists including Johnny Rodriguez and Johnny Cash. I first heard it sung by Nicolette Larson (1986). Nicolette's rendition has been removed from YT, but there is a great bluegrass cover by Homefire and one by Sarah Jory - all very different versions.

Rose of My Heart by Johnny Rodriquez

(intro run down: G-F-Em-EbM-D-G)

(G)We're the best (G7)partners this (C)worlds ever (G)seen
To(D)gether as close as can (G)be,
But sometimes its (G7)hard to find (C)time in between
To (G)tell you what you are to (D)me.

Chorus:
(G)You are the (G7)Rose of My (C)Heart,
(D)You are the love of my (G)life,
A flower not (G7)fading or (C)falling apart,
If you're (G)tired rest your head on my (D)arm,
Rose of My Heart.

When sorrow holds you in her arms of clay (some days?)
It's raindrops that fall from your eyes.
Your smile's like the sun come to earth for a day,
You brighten my blackest of skies,
Rose of My heart.

You are the Rose of My Heart,
You are the love of my life,
A flower not fading or falling apart,
If you're cold let my love make you warm,
Rose of My Heart.

(repeat run down)

So hard times or easy times, what do I care,
Theres nothing I'd change if I could.
The tears and the laughter are things that we share.
Your hand in mine makes all times good.

You are the Rose of My Heart,
You are the love of my life,
A flower not fading or falling apart,
You're my harbor in life's restless storm,
Rose of My Heart.

  • This was written by Hugh Moffat of the UK. Johnny R had a hit with it.

  • @wilmaohman Thanks for setting the record straight .. I will change the info (altho it looks like he is an American born in Texas)

  • @julanenova, Sorry I guess I should have checked all my facts. He and Katy have been doing a lot of appearances in the UK in the last few years.Someone told me he was from the UK. Johnny's version sounded better than Hugh's.

  • @Hippie1944 wow!... thanks for 5*
