Do you guys have any fields with hillsides in them? We are thinking about buying one of these but some of our fields has hillsides and we were a little skeptical if it would flex properly for some of the hillsides because some are fairly steep with little dips etc. Also, how about corners? Is it hard to back up into corners and tight spots? You probably farm in the wide open farmland but most of our fields here in Arkansas are smaller than up north and have ditches that run through them etc.

we have the exact same planting rig you guys have. same planter, same tractor that looks exactly like ours. very cool
Thanks for the help 4 months ago. Just as an update we bought a 1770nt CCS this week speced pretty much the same as your minus the refuge box.

@Farmerknowsbest: It has been a great planter for us. We added swath control and row command to the planter. It paid for itself much faster than we thought (2 years). Make sure you add a full rack of weights to the front of your 8200, you'll need them.

@CoonCreekFarms Yea, we are putting on Precision down force, and row clutches on the planter run through a Trimble FMX. As far as hydraulics go, the 30gpm the tractor puts out is sufficient?

@Farmerknowsbest As I recall, the tractor hyd did just fine, but we had to keep the RPMs up all the time. I think Deere had to add an additional SCV to the tractor as well, for a total of 4. The only complaint I have is you can't see the mini boxes behind the planter bar. It's hard to tell if they are bouncing excessively. The only way to know if you need to slow down due to bumps is to watch the monitor population. We have only plugged a hose once, and it was easy to fix.

How does the 8200 handle the planter? I pull a 16 row with full dry fertilizer with our 8200 and want to go up to a 24 row.

@Farmerknowsbest: We don't have any additional wheel weights on our 8200, just the ones in the front. Considering that, the 8200 still pulls the planter extremely well. We have the largest tires available for the 1770nt, and I'd highly recommend getting those on all wheels.
