    If the subject is irrelevant to the music, then there's no point in having lyrics. The reason this song was written was to convey a thought or an idea that the writer wanted to share, through words. Ideas that writers share come from an important place in their minds or hearts. If you know who Jon Foreman is and what he believes in, and frequently writes about, you would be able to deduce that this song has a high probability of having religious context. Debate it all you want, but fact is fact.

    I get really mad when people call Switchfoot a Christian band; Jon Foreman himself said that he didn't want his music to only pertain to a certain box of people. I'm an Atheist and I adore Swtchfoot's music; the meanings don't necessarily adhere to a religious person's perspective. They're for everyone.
