The tax credit for 1st time home buyers has been extended and now includes repeat buyers. First timers still get 10% of the purchase price up to $8,000, others get $6,500 and you do not have to repay as long as you stay in the home for 36 months. Active military personnel are exempt from that if they move on orders. April 30, 2010 is the new deadline but there is a 60 day grace period for closing, so as long as you are in a binding agreement by 4/30 you can close anytime 60 days after.

Call us at 770-792-7979 for information on how to take advantage of the credit, we can help in several ways with your home purchase.

  • You should describe how to take the credit on a tax return. The government is only accepting paper returns with this credit. No E File. Please research this for the your clients.
