One of our favorite hymns!

Come, thou Fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me ever to adore Thee,
May I still Thy goodness prove.
While the hope of endless glory,
Fills my heart with joy and love.

Here I raise mine Ebenezer;
Hither by thy help I'm come;
And I hope, by thy good pleasure,
Safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
Wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger,
Interposed his precious blood.

O to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be!
Let thy goodness, like a fetter,
Bind me closer still to thee.
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
Prone to leave the God I love;
Here's my heart, O take and seal it,
Seal it for thy courts above.

  • i really LOVE this song. and how you play it is stellar! i've almost got it down now. i've been practicing all the little notes that you add in and it sounds so great! you're great at guitar!

  • @skydivejunkee Thank you! I'm glad you were able to pick it up by watching. It is fun playing this song. I wouldn't call myself a great guitar player by any means, but I guess I'm pretty good at what I do. The point is, I love to play, and this song is one of my favorites. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

  • Absolutely gorgeous. I just discovered this hymn a week ago and it has to be one of the most beautiful melodies I've ever heard, sends me to tears every time. Jack your folk picking reminds me of Donovans' "Catch The Wind." What type of acoustic do you play?

  • Thank you for your kind comment. I suppose Donovan was one of my influences growing up. The guitar I'm playing in this video is a Taylor 810-B (Brazilian rosewood with an Engleman spruce top). I have several other guitars as well: a Giannini Craviola classical, a Larrivee D9-B (Braz. RW with Sitka spruce top), a Taylor 450 12 string and a Tyler banjitar among others. Would you be kind enough to rate this video for me? Thanks.
