Mind and Life XIV -- Dialogues on "The Universe in a Single Atom" - Day 2 Afternoon Session
(Held at His Holiness the Dalai Lama's residence in Dharamsala, India)

Day 2 - April 10th, 2007
Cosmology and the Relativity of Space and Time. Dialogue Leaders: George Greenstein and Arthur Zajonc

In addition to being a scientific autobiography, the Dalai Lama's book "The Universe in a Single Atom: the Convergence of Science and Spirituality" highlights those issues he feels are most important in the "convergence of science and spirituality." These issues and questions form the focus of the Mind and Life XIV meeting, and become the foundation on which a group of scientists develop a deep dialogue with the Dalai Lama and other Buddhist scholar-practitioners.

The conference was organized by the Mind and Life Institute (www.mindandlife.org) and the Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama (www.dalailama.com).

  • Dalai Lama a "survivor "...affection, compassion, peace... a very good man, special...!

  • @KevinSolway

You sound like very ignorant. Buddhism have flourshed more then 2500 hundreds years ago. Who knows how many of past and present schientist are directly and indirectly contributed by Buddhism to develope their research and and findings. Of course everything depends on what you believe and value. If you just believe in money and power and violent there is nothing to look into buddhism. study first and then talk

  • @KevinSolway HAHAHA, you think A-bombs would save us if aliens decided to invade our planet? If aliens ever would invade; I guarantee that they are gonna be so far beyond our technology and our only chanse would be stealing.

  • @mathias138 "a buddist scientist would never build an a-bomb"

Too bad if we needed one to defend ourselves from an alien invasion.

  • @KevinSolway they can contribute ethics and morale. a buddist scientist would never build an a-bomb.

and taroon588: don't be stupid, the Dalai Lama wanted discussions with scientists. and that is what he got.

  • Buddhists have contributed virtually nothing to science throughout history, so it's ironic to expect them to contribute something now.

  • Excellent finale!

  • excelente
