  • i like the vid but how come it was only women suspected to be vampires and witches

  • @jenbugluv That is a good question, but I do know it has to do with religious culture. If a woman was independent and opinionated, she was often labled a witch or a sinner because women are suppose to be weak, submissive, and meak. Also, religion often made women carries of evil as part of the counter to female friendly pagan cultures.

  • @NinjaCthulhu i did a report some years back on the salem witch trial but i was un aware of the "vampire" craze that swept new england. i found it very interesting infact so much as to thinking about doing my own research im wondering if this only happened because of tb or if there are any other occurences in the u.s. but does seem as though witch and vampires a like started in new england

  • @jenbugluv Well, there were vampire graves discovered in North Carolina and Canada, but they are rare. However, one place was much worse for vampire, werewolf, and witch scares: Europe. Thousands of people were jailed and killed for being witches and werewolves, though often they were pagans, independent women, Jews, or the mentally ill. Also, the vampire folklore that swept New England appeared to have originated in Eastern Europe.

  • @NinjaCthulhu my 12th great grandmother in hessen Germany was held and convicted of being a witch and was imprisoned in Budigen Castle until her suicide in 1597. Authorities riped out her tounge when she denied the charges records on her can still be found at the castle to this day..

  • I somehow stumbled upon your videos on youtube, but I want you to know I'm enjoying them. I like hearing the facts/legends while seeing the gravestones and things. =)

  • Steve spent far too much time on camera on that one. It is quite worrying, you may need that axe lol.
