Guantanamo Tunisians return home

Several Tunisians held in Guantanamo were able to return to their country after the uprisings that ousted Zine-El Abidine Ben Ali, the former president.

Al Jazeera's Nazanine Moshiri spoke to one of them in the capital, Tunis.

These people were shooting at the American soldiers. Then they drop their rifle and walk away to make it look like they weren't shooting. When the soldiers catch them with no weapon, they can't prove that they were combatants, but if they set them free, they would go back to shooting American soldiers. That's why they had to hold them there for so long. Yes, they probably caught some people who were not shooting, but war is chaos, they had to catch people as best as they could.

If you want the American people to be more aware, you should help by signing the petition on change dot or g to broadcast Al Jazeera in English on a major media provider such as Comcast. Mainstream America only sees mainstream media (Fox/CNN) and knows only what those companies are willing to reveal to the general public, or what has gotten so much attention that they have to report on it.

Exactly. This is why there are American citizens constantly attempting to get Guantanamo closed. Guantanamo is not the only CMU prison (and foreigners are not the only people held there.. such as environmental activist from the U.S. who was convicted of terrorist acts against corporations). There are people doing everything in their power to close these prisons everyday.
