If you are into online education you probably know that e-learning and Jay Cross are two words that go tightly together. So much so, that many have attributed to Jay, who is also an active and highly resourceful blogger, the paternity of having coined the term e-learning.

Jay is also CEO of the Internet Time Group and the founder of the Workflow Institute. A true thought leader in learning and in the effective use of educational technologies, he has been actively involved in the fields of informal learning, performance improvement, and organizational culture.

I have had the pleasure to meet Jay Cross, on April 21st, near his little nice home on the hills of Berkeley, and together we have spent a few hours talking about blogs, learning and the future in general.

As he says "I am trying to change the world by helping people learn. My calling is to spread the adoption of practical ideas through writing, speaking, teaching, and selling ideas."

What I did feel Jay wants to do is to ask more questions, invite minds to engage and explore new pathways, and disseminate new ideas that can help everyone improve her ability to learn. Being that learning is the likely highest purpose I believe we have in this journey called life, that's a pretty spiritual task, if you wish.

And here is what Jay he had to say in the first mini-clip dedicated to TheWeblogProject, "What is a blog?" question: "It's a simple website. Easy to update. I've gone to groups and suggested they start a blog for sharing information, when a meeting's happening, or somebody's got a new idea. And within 5 minutes we've set up a blog, a website with a particular diary that everyone can adjust, that everyone can identify to that one and other people can make contributions to. It's like having a pad of paper but it's online so the whole world can read it."
