In this video Mike Williams from www.ShredGuitarAcademy.com will get you started on the road to playing arpeggios. He'll first give a quick overview of what arpeggios are and some basic terminology. He will then go on to talk about some of the most exciting ways to play arpeggios on the guitar. Examples shown include onscreen tab.

  • thumbs up for pentagram already on 2 guitars

  • @buckethead21zzz Charvel \m/

  • do you ever teach or demonstrate three or four string arpeggio sweeps, or are you always sweeping five?

  • @triviumetallicaify That will be next. But they are basically all the same shapes. Drop the lowest not in the 6 note shape and you get a 5 note shape. Drop the lowest two notes and you get a 4 note shape. Drop the lowest 3 notes and you get a 3 note shape. Drop any more and you no longer have an arpeggio ;) \m/

  • Hey, from 0:10 to 0:18 is a real song ? If yes please... tell us what is it :D

  • @tussoccaval It's from Ringing The Bells of the Apocalypse by one of my bands Anatolian Wisdom. It hasn't been recorded yet.

  • Not sure if i missed some vids but have you gone over scales and how these shapes are built (vs just naming the tabs). I think having a better understanding of how they are shaped with notes will give a better understanding. I know that my knowledge of the fret board is what is holding me back atm.

  • good job on keeping your instruction moving at a decent pace, i.e., not too fast for beginners/intermediates, but not too slow for the more advanced. try (if u haven't already) to incorporate some ear-stretching, voice-leading, & encourage self-exploration. once a player realizes (for instance) that soloing is basically chords unfolded, so to speak, they're close to discovering that limiting yourself to basic maj/min chords creates solo-limiting boxes. just a thought. good job...

  • is that a strat? or a charvel?

  • @ShredGuitarAcademy Well said, makes perfect sense. Thank you! All i can do as of right now are the 3 and 4 string sweeps, this video however encouraged and inspired me to practice adding 5 and 6 onto my sweeps!

  • FUCK!! U ARE A GOOD TEACHER!!

  • 2:38 where are the fucking knobs??!?!?
