Kerri Elliott is a "Teachers Teacher" with a strong desire to bring people together and from Antioch, Illinois to a small village in Tanzania she is having a global impact. Kerri, a special education and global studies teacher at Antioch Community High School in Illinois, has continued to deepen student and community awareness of the lives and concerns of the African students by using her own experiences in Tanzania to spread knowledge of conditions in a developing nation remote from the American Midwest.

On July 1, Kerri received the Applegate Dorros Peace and International Understanding Award at NEA's annual Human and Civil Rights Gala.
