Video of the outlet spillway and stilling basin on the dam at Caesar Creek State Park in Ohio. Its purpose is flood control. The 2830 acre lake it holds back receives runoff from a 237 square mile watershed. Flood stages in the Little Miami river and Ohio river are reduced by limiting outflow from the dam. There is a large emergency spillway nearby to prevent water from overflowing the dam during heavy flooding.
Dam Facts:
- 2750 feet long
- 165 feet high
- Outlet conduit running through dam is 983 feet long
Shot with a Nikon D7000, Tokina 11-16, and Rode VideoMic Pro. Sorry for the shakiness. I didn't use my VR lens.
