The accompanying video - like all other Innuendo videos directed by Rudi Dolezal and Hannes Rossacher of DoRo Productions - was filmed in February 1991 and it features the band dressed and acting in an absurd manner, including guitarist Brian May dressed as a penguin (a reprise of his outfit featured in the booklet of the first Queen album)drummer Roger Taylor wearing a tea kettle on his head and riding a tricycle while Mercury sneaks up on him and is chasing him, a man in a gorilla suit, bassist John Deacon as a jester, and Mercury wearing a bunch of bananas as a wig (corresponding with the line "I think I'm a banana tree").

"I'm Going Slightly Mad" is the last Queen video to feature significant creative input from Mercury. Although he was already considerably ill at the time, "I'm Going Slightly Mad" features him very mobile and expressive in the final clip, as well as actively co-directing some of the video's storyboards. This was not the case in "These Are the Days of Our Lives", the last video Mercury ever filmed (in May 1991), where he hardly moves around at all. The video is shot in black and white, and its light effects, and the absurd character Mercury creates, complete with heavy makeup and a wig, all help to camouflage his frail condition at the time. For "I'm Going Slightly Mad", Mercury had worn heavy make-up to conceal the blotches on his face and a second layer of clothing to disguise how emaciated his body had become

  • I love watching this video, but the reason I don't like watching this is 'cause Freddie's in so much pain and suffering. It makes me very sad to see him go through all this. I love the end. They all look so sad because they all know their best friend is going to pass away very, very soon......it's such a horrible thing to go through. AIDS I distain that word........ :''(

  • Roger seem's to be the most afected for what was going to Freddie :(

Love Freddie Mercury, forever & ever!!!

  • alaways having fun was this all shot in one day? Freddie by this point couldn't preform for long and had trouble standing that's why I ask?

  • @AliceInWonderland85 ok thanks

  • @freddyforever75 Brian has admitted it before, most recently in an interview actually. He considered driving himself off a bridge.

  • @AliceInWonderland85 where did you hear that brian was suicidal after freddie died? i never heard that

  • HIV and AIDS disliked this.

  • @AliceInWonderland85 Yeah, i know that...but in this video making, Roger seems to be absent from the action, i'm not saying that the rest of the band is happy, just that Roger is really not "there"....

  • @scorpyaforever I have to disagree. Brian was suicidal after Freddie died. But Yes the whole band was deeply affected.

  • @TheKokokiss Well, but the video was made before Freddie's gone. Yeah, he was very ill at that moment, but he was alive with them their. What happened and reactions after Freddie has gone to his home in Heaven, is another sad & paintfull story :(

  • @scorpyaforever I think because he didn't get there in time to speak to Freddie for the last time. Apparently he was 3 yards from the house when he got the call saying that Freddie was gone. :(

  • Freddie loved making music so much he was recording music video's whilst suffering a terminal illness. I love the man
