i agree ashcroft is an amzin frontman and a great lyricist but i think nick mcabe was the real genius behind the verve .the first album is well known to be "his" album also simon jones is heavily overlooked. hes as vital 4 the verves sound as mcabe or ashcroft. hes my favourite bassist out there. hes almost like a 2nd guitarist.his playin is so intricate and creative hes also a genius

Shame glastonbury isnt like this nowadays: decent weather, no flags being waved about, decent bands, no chavs, all around better than the over commercialised shit they show these days on the BBC. However the Verve's comeback this year was electric, but thats been the best thing at glastonbury in about 10 years.

I remember catching this at the time & it introduced me 2 two of my favourite albums of all time, storm in heaven & a northern soul. Seminal stuff!!!

No idea why, theres probably only one but this is some vid. I like richards lyric change in 'let the daylight cool your foolish pride' with reference to the sunny weather.
