F1 1997 Europe FP3 — Alesi Onboard

Here are two laps onboard with Jean Alesi in the Benetton-Renault during the third free practice session if the weekend. The signal on Alesi's camera was quite bad but it's better than nothing anyway.

i always loved the way alesi held the wheel. for some reason, it looks better

@keytek9 Because unlike most drivers who use a 9 and 3 oclock hand position. Alesi uses a more old school 10 and 2 approach. This means he's holding onto the steering wheel off axis of its mounting point which creates the flexing you see under breaking.

When I used to see the onboard footage back then, I had the exact same impression as you do. and still do.Maybe Alesi likes the steering column flexible I guess.. Cannot guess why, but it is possible.
