Based on suggestions by the class and the teacher, many changes were made to cut 2. Each cut has its own good and bad points. Comment on which one you think is better.

Check out cut 2: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKFN_Ifr9g8

This is my own trailer cut for one of my favorite Studio Ghibli films, My Neighbor, Totoro (となりのトトロ).

I've always thought that Disney did Ghibli a disservice by releasing Totoro as a straight-to-DVD project. Even the trailer for it, bundled with other Ghibli DVDS, is cut with this in mind. My trailer was cut as if it was destined for the U.S. theaters.

Cut as the second assignment for a class learning Avid.

  • i love spirited away, princess moninoke, and totoro! I hav the movies. But the new movie for Totoro stinks and the real one with the real vioces soundsalot better. To bad a lost that movie T^T!!!!!

  • I love Totoro forever..

  • @TheTheDeclaration As a side note I like American cartoons as well (well at least the ones made in the 90s)

  • @TheTheDeclaration I'm just gonna say to each their own. I just think it's wrong that you're trying to force other people into your opinion. Sure anime has flaws but those aren't what people focus on when watching them. They focus on the experience itself. Anime is an art and not really a genre so you can't just say that they all have cheap stories. I say if you don't like anime you should just stay away from it.

  • @blorge510 I now make it my duty to watch anime, and point out all the obvious plot holes and the overall shallowness this "medium" or "artform" brings out in its entries to prove that western writers have ALWAYS been better than Japanese ones and that the Japanese should learn some English because Japanese is obviously not an ideal language for writing stories. Closing out, when Confused Matthew finishes up most of his requested entries, I'm gonna request Grave of the Fireflies.

  • @blorge510 "To ask what this means is to miss the point, the point is to beat you over the head with useless jargon until you accept that you are in the presence of a higher mind"

    -- Confused Matthew

Matthew showed me the light. He taught me that it was OKAY and actually perfectly righteous to hate on things that try their hardest to NOT MAKE SENSE. When a friend of his sent him a copy of Spirited Away to review, he savaged it as overrated obscurantist trash it was. I was moved.

  • @blorge510 For awhile, I thought, "maybe I just don't understand anime, maybe it's just so complex that I can't wrap my head around it."

But then, I found a reviewer, his name was Confused Matthew. He went around trashing all these overrated popular movies, and then he got to the Matrix sequels, and gave me valuable insight on an intellectual disease called "OBSCURANTISM"

  • @blorge510 To spread the truth. Pure and simple. I have a vendetta against anime. Anime makes me mad >:(, especially when it steals OUR awards. My anger towards anime was pent up inside me all these years. I never understood anime why anime was so popular or why weaboos had to put down GREAT cartoons like Animaniacs, Freakazoid, or Batman TAS, which I felt were well written, and tout obscurantist schlock like Akira, Spirited Away, and Perfect Blue as masterpieces over them.
