The National Bonsai & Penjing Museum at the National Arboretum in Washington, DC has a collection of miniature trees and landscapes that are masterpieces of the Chinese art of penjing and the Japanese art of bonsai. Masters of these arts sculpt or "train" the trees, sometimes over many generations, to create the desired shapes. The oldest tree in the museum's collection (and the first shown in the video) is a Japanese White Pine that has been in training as a "living sculpture" since 1625.
