The original is by Jimmy Forrest. Duke Ellington claimed it as the "Happy Go Lucky Local" as we hear in the original it was really a salty burlesque 'stripper' son like a lot the sax driven stuff was at the time. Boozy, bluesy, and sexy. Alvino Rey's supercharged version was made for the Space Age.

I would like to hear Alvino Rey do his 1940s cut of Mama Blues ( I Want My Mama) His Talking electric Coffin actually forming very understandable words Long before the Moog and others started popping up.

Night Train is one of my favorite songs and this is one of the best versions that I ever heard!

Sam Butera cut this track in the early fifties. Blows the pants off this version. Sorry Mr Rey, but it`s true.
Good posting though.
