You have to put images to a recordable CD and when you put the CD in the stereo go to backgrounds and it will open the files on the CD.

Can you watch a DVD and switch off to GPS without switching dvds? Or does the DVD map have to be in it the whole time?

When you insert one of the navigation disk's into the stereo you can program you destination. the stereo will save it in it's memory.after this take out the navi disk. when you do this you can put in a movie in the CD player and watch the move too.
