Chapter 25

Joe- So we will talk about something to get your mind off of it.
Allie- What do you want to talk about?
Joe- How about we talk about Stephen?

Silence is all I heard. Water from my hair dripping to the floor echoed around in the room. The dreaded conversation had arrived.

He continued brushing my hair like the conversation was as casual as the weather.

Joe- Are you going to start talking or would you like me to start?
Allie- You can start I guess
Joe- The whole reason for dating is to get to know a person you could potentially marry. Before you should date someone you should be there friend and get to know there characters and there morals. Now dont get me wrong, you getting married is a long way off but that is the point of dating. Would you marry a guy who is disrespectful and has no self control?
Allie- No
Joe- So why would you date a boy who is disrespectful and has no self control.
Allie- You wouldnt.
Joe- Exactly
Allie- But just because a guy doesnt have respect and self control now doesnt mean he wont mature and have it in the future.
Joe- Uh Ha! You have made my point for me. It all comes back to maturity.

He was still brushing my hair, there were a lot of knots and tangles so It was kind of hurting but I was more preoccupied listing to what my dad was saying rather then feeling the pain.

Allie- So you dont think Im mature enough.
Joe- No, I think you would be mature enough to date a boy your age if they were mature enough. See boys your age and just starting to change unlike girls your age. You see-
Allie- Dad please stop.
Joe- Allie we are going to have to have this conversation some time, why not now?
Allie- Because I dont want to have this conversation when the boy this conversation is about is on his way to his house with his family.
Joe- This has nothing to do with Stephen personally, it just has to do with dating in general. W-
Our conversation was cut of by my Uncle Nick opening the bedroom door. (Not the bathroom door from the outside the one the goes in the bedroom). With out looking up he started talking to who he thought was my dad really fast.

Nick- Joe do you mind watching Tommy and Jessica while me and Sara use the guest bedroom because we are both so hor- Allison!

He looked up and saw my dad standing doing my hair while I was still sitting on the stool. I made a face like I was about to vomit. I could have lived my whole life without ever being in this situation and yet here I was.

Joe- You could send them up Nick. And next time you should try looking at who your talking to before you start speaking.
Nick- Right. Well uh, thanks.

Nick quickly walked out of the room embarrassed and flustered. He returned a few seconds later with my cousins, Tommy and Jessica.
