These guys still set the standard for hot electric guitar-steel guitar more than fifty years after they first recorded... that's amazing! Leon Rhodes and Buddy Charlton of the Texas Troubladors came close, as did James Burton and Ralph Mooney, and also Danny Gatton and Buddy Emmons.... Love the humor with which JB and Speedy played; they were clearly having a great time. Bryant had perhaps the most advanced right hand picking technique ever, and impecable country-jazz chops and taste.

Wow! These were two baaaaaaaaaaaaad boys. I've really started getting into their music lately. So much jazz and swing in there! Thanks for posting this!

@grandamike Extremely valid point. Check out Bryant's "Little Rock Getaway" on YT.
Cheers!

Supergeile Darbietung - aber der Titel ist falsch! Wurde auch falsch vom Moderator genannt. Auf der Capitol - Single CF 3150 wird als Titel "Cotton Pickin` " angegeben. Western Swing vom Allerfeinstem !!!

Amazing! Two great guitar players!

These guys were kindred spirits. The only duo that ever came close was the pairing of Danny Gatton and Buddy Emmons. Different styles and approaches, I love both equally. You certainly don't hear fun stuff like this these days!
that kicked ass.
if they had a P-Bass walking the bottom end on that song it would have rocked even harder.

thanks for this clip these two guys were so fantastic it's hard to believe even when you see it! Jimmy Bryant has been a huge inspiration for me as a guitar player (I'll never get anywhere near his level, though...) and the sheer take-no-prisoners musicianship of Speedy and him as a team makes me downright speechless.
