  • this isn't a great demo - because you haven't matched the volumes. All my ears hear mainly besides the spatical width is a jump in volume...

  • @djgrassroots The plug in was used in real time, which is why there is a volume difference, if I remember correctly it was about 6db, maintained about 8-10db of dynamic range. I wanted to show what the plug in could do to amp up a track without making it sound harsh. If you only hear a jump in volume then I would suggest you are not listening critically enough.

  • Nice! Sounds like Jamiroquai!

  • @djgrassroots Volume increase is a part of the mastering process as well, so I do not think he was wrong for doing it this way. If he was doing compression on single tracks then yes I think same level comparisons would be in order to outline the character of the processed media vs the unprocessed media.

  • What about metal music?

  • Nice examples. I wish it was a HD video so I could hear the obious hi end changes better. I'm on a pair Genelecs so maybe the other guys just need to reference on somthing better.

  • @Afewdollarsmore1 I do think that Izotope are developing and using some of the best algorithms to drive their software... having said that... I agree. The less I mess about with something, the better it sounds, so I focus on getting more done right with my recording conditions and mic choice/placement etc. before it goes in. Saves a lot of time too :)

  • @TheChileanbastard I could definitely hear dynamic differences djgrassroot, It might be that it's more difficult to assess the spectral difference when there's also an overall volume change. A more obvious example that you couldn't miss here is the snare in the first sample track...

  • Sounds nice. You should try Linux with Ubuntu with Ardour and all the plugins we have. Linux has EVERYTHING!!! Music recording is here TODAY for Linux. right now..now go GET it!!!! ITS FREE!!!

  • @TheChileanbastard ... What about dropping the level after your instance of ozone the same amount in db as that which you pushed it up in limiting?

  • Great mixes man (I really dig them), and the mastering plugin really gives a nice touch to that commercial sound.

    Thanks for sharing! =)

  • Great video! N i love the tunes dude, are they on itunes somewhere.
