limput08, as long as you are in reasonably good health it most definitely possible to be an astronaut. Study hard and excel in whichever field you feel most comfortable in. If you succeed academically or scientifically, a space agency will take you. If you succeed financially, will be able to buy your own ticket. Stay focused and go prove your parents wrong!

Secondly, making a statement about life in space and then stating that a particular person cannot speak the truth about life in the galaxy, or any other part of the Universe for that matter, sort of pulls the rug out from under your own statement.

Just in general and not pointed at any of greg's comments: UFO stands for Unidentified Flying Object, and doesn't necessarily mean flying saucer. It only acknowledges that something is there, it's flying, but nobody knows what it is. It could be a rock for all anyone knows.
