Computer Science undergraduates at Cambridge University undertake a group project as part of their second-year practical work. The projects take 6 weeks to complete and are designed to give students experience of working with a team of colleagues using externally prescribed tools. This gives some idea of the problems encountered in normal professional practice. In the final week of term, teams present their work to students, members of the Department and guests. Departmental staff vote for the best project, and the winning team go on to represent the University of Cambridge in the IBM UK "University Team Challenge".
